Grandchildren fear me. I try to get on their level sometimes. I think it makes them wonder what I'm up to.
Grandbaby#4 won't come near me this week. I babysat a couple weeks ago. I try to be useful. If the children were fed, I'll wash dishes. If the children are napping, I'll throw in a couple loads of clothes. I like for the YP's (young parents) to come back to the nest and find they don't have to DO anything, just sit down and enjoy their evening!
#4 smelled sour. Now, that's a 1 year old for ya. Sometimes they smell. Not because nobody did anything about it, but because they're babies. I plopped #4 in the sink (after I did the dishes, thank you) and gave her a quick bath. Make sure to get the creases of the neck, that's where sour milk likes to hide. I wrapped her in a big warm towel from the dryer and hugged her.
she still smelled.
Hm. Must be in her hair. I did cover her long angelic hair during the rinse portion, but there must be milk somewhere. Probably behind her ears. Yup, there it is, it's powerful.
I laid her on the drainboard in my arms, dotted a little more shampoo on her head and rinsed her with the sprayer. What's wrong with that? She was snuggled, she was warm and dry, except for her head. But I Still Smelled it! I resuds'd, and re-rinsed. She's getting angry, it'll have to be good enough!
I dried her and dressed her adorably in her little jammies and set her to play.
I went home.
My husband hugged me and said, hmm, sour milk! CRAP! I had gotten it on my shirt, at the shoulder, when I swaddled #4 and held her tight. I guess she could have done without lather, rinse repeat. Now I know
why I get that funny look - - - - -

life lesson - hair
When I visit, Samara runs right up to me and grabs around my legs begging to be picked up. Charlotte runs right up to about 2 feet away from me and stares, smiling.
I said, "It's okay, I'm not gonna wash your hair" I think it's gonna take some time.
Left with all the girlies one evening I decided that when Mom and Daddy got home, they should have nice clean children to put to bed. I noticed the littlest smelled like yesterday's milk. I plopped her in a sink of warm water and started washing.
I washed her hair. She wasn't happy about that. I wrapped her in a towel and snuggled her thinking, "Dang, I still smell it!" I returned her to the counter top and washed her hair again. I dressed her in cute, clean jammies and said to myself, "Dang, I still Smell it!" No matter!
When Mommy and Daddy came home I presented darling children bathed and jammied and ready for their story. I went home, very happy I was able to do something nice for the parents.
I got home, sat down in front of the TV and thought, "Dang!! I Still smell it!!"
it was on my blouse!
Sorry Charlotte! sorrysorrysorry
